In the case of my Cliffy Cakes Birthday however, my plan was going smoothly!! So smoothly in fact the excitement of me arriving to Denver to surprise him without him knowing was keeping me up at night! oh, but that was not going to last long. An unfortunate occurrence of which I will not name any names let the cat out of the bag for maybe...2 seconds. Within those 2 seconds the Cliffy saw my wonderful plan, and it was all over. His way of trying to get me to budge was to keep asking "are you sure you don't have a surprise for me for my birthday..." At this point I made him confess what he knew!
Well, Even though he found out I was flying out to see him for his birthday, I was able to manage a couple surprises within my magnificent plan...one surprise was making him a video of me singing Happy Birthday with my grandfathers guitar (which I have no idea how to play...yet) and sending it to him on his Birthday which was Monday April 4! aside from the long and drug out download for him to receive the file, it was worth it in the end.
The second surprise was that I did show up to his door on Thursday August 7th with his present and a sponge bob balloon that did...indeed...sing happy Birthday! I had gotten a very nice Jacket he can dress up his sexy jeans in or wear it with some nice pants....whatever he desires! and then the third and final surprise....was pulling off the surprise Birthday party we put together for him on Friday night April 8th at the Front Porch Bar downtown. Many of friends were there to surprise him, I had told him that I wanted the night to be just the two of us and that I had tickets to somewhere. I took him to Earls for dinner where he was in the midst of texting many of his friends on meeting up after our date...haha little did he know. I had to tell him to put his phone away...we were on a date silly!
Afterward we were on our way to where I had tickets to...and this place was actually to nowhere but to meet his friends for the surprise. He kept trying to guess and guess and we were walking our way toward Comedy Works, in which he guessed that and I pretended to cave in to the idea. I told him we should go grab a drink at the Front Porch before the show....and Ta Da!! there it was the surprise was a success!
Awe...look how GREAT his surprised face is!!
The night was FANTASTIC! Everyone was enjoying their drinks as well as buying Cliff shots and who knows what....I learned quickly what "Irish Drunk" for Cliffy was. I have to thank our friend Ally for putting it all together and getting everyone to the meeting place. We ended the night at Scruffy Murphy's, his bar of choice. A night with his friends never fails without showing their faces within that bar. That Irish Pub suits him well if I must say so myself :o)
Oh good times, definitely a memorable night!
Saturday, we were left recovering...sleeping, waking up, napping, snuggling, dozing off again, waking up, chatting, giggling, snuggling...you get the idea! We've all been there!
I must say that Sunday, we were taking on Downtown Denver and experiencing it through the eyes of "Banjo Billy's Bus Tour". Total Blast!! I lived in Denver all my life and learned stuff I never knew about Denver. Apparently the Eagle with his wings raised that is perched on the top of the building across from the capital is not getting ready for flight like they meant for it to look like, but is really its getting ready to take a shit! that's right! Oh and Cheesemen Park was built over several dead bodies and is apparently haunted. There is a House across from the Brown Palace which used to be a brothel and a tunnel was created from the brothel to the Brown Palace underground so the men could go do their thing across the street without the wives knowing about it...haha! GO DENVER!
I encourage anyone to take this tour when they are in Denver!
The night would not have been complete without a trip to Pink Berry! mmmmm. They need one of these in Jasper for sure!
Movie night cuddling on the couch eating pink berry with my Cliffy could not have gotten any better, we definitely know how to spend quality time together. I did not want to leave back to Jasper the next morning, but Monday came and I had to say goodbye...yet again. It was extremely difficult this time and even the good book I was reading on the plane "Water For Elephants" could not keep me from thinking about how much I already missed him.
When I finally got home, I did have two little piggies waiting for me. I would like to think they missed me but really I think they just wanted water, food, and a clean cage haha
See how Hank takes up most of their Hut! Such a Chubster!
