ADVENTURES OF FRIT!: May 2011

May has definitely made an entrance with a BAM! Its only the beginning of the month and significant events have already taken place.

Osama Bin Laden was killed on May 1st - America has finally seen justice from all the lives lost on the 9-11 attack. Osama did get a proper burial and much debate over that as well as President Obama taking the credit for the killing by making the call. There have been some concerns of a possible retaliation as well. I choose not to get into any debate because in my eyes there should not even be one. We have the Justice that has been sought after since the attack, that should be enough. I'm sure more news will be pouring out for several months to come on this....oh joy!

On the morning of May 2nd at around 5am, the gym at the Jasper High School collapsed. Just 30 hrs earlier was the prom and post prom where several students, faculty, volunteers including myself had been running around participating in the event. It is not sure how or why the roof collapsed, but the school has been closed for the last two days. It is a relief that the timing of the collapse was at a time where no one got hurt. They say the Gym cannot easily be repaired and will have to be completely re-structured. Who knows when that will get done!

Oh my...the rain. So much rain!! It has caused flooding in many areas. The river walk here in Jasper which is along the Patoka River at one point was 1/2 way up the gazebo. Part of the bridge was closed to one lane. Today, I heard that they are going to drain the Patoka Lake to avoid any damage in the dam since it has reached the max capacity it can hold. Apparently it has been several years since seeing this much rain. Blame it on the Coloradoan to move to Jasper and bring along unusual weather patterns! haha....I am ready for the sun to come back out and welcome us again!

I have to mention this because its absolutely insane how crazy its getting....gas today here reached $4.17/gallon. People are still losing their jobs, the housing market is still crashing, the cost of living seems to feel like its going up....does this make any sense? of course not!

Good news for myself....May 2nd, I actually woke up and felt much better. I have been battling being sick with a terrible cough, sore throat, and headaches for the past two 1/2 weeks. My cough was getting worse and it was actually starting to worry me a bit, but I had a breakthrough and I am feeling like its finally losing the battle! It feels good to be back to my old self again..well almost, perhaps a few more days to get to 100% FRITTLE ;o)

And the forecast for the rest of the month.....I am sure is going to continue to be crazy, but I have a feeling its going to be a good one. I am looking forward to seeing my Cliffy Cakes who is flying in towards the end of the month and I have much planned for the two of us. I have a feeling it will go by fast. We are looking to try out the Dairy Barn in Birdseye which has massive ice cream cones, Holiday world and enjoy some water rides, perhaps a trip to Patoka Lake, and just putz around the town and maybe in Louisville!
